Turkey Toss Basket 2013

3 Peat!  3 Peat!

Hey Divas!  For those of you who have been following me for a few years, you have heard about the Turkey Toss Basket Contest between the departments at my school (Click here for the 2012 entry).  This is a project/contest we do to show appreciation to our custodians and share our blessings with them.  Each department puts together a basket full of Thanksgiving dinner goodness and the baskets are then given to one of the custodians on our staff.  My department has won the contest every year and guess what?!  We won again this year!  Here is this year's entry.

I work with an awesome Special Education department!  They are so giving and we have an appreciation for  each other's talents and gifts.  So the other members of my department provide all the goodies for the basket like mashed potatoes, gravy, corn and so forth.  They also provide money to purchase all the non-food items.  They have asked me for the past 3 years to put the basket together for the team so that's my contribution.

I must admit - I start thinking about what to do for next year's basket right after this year's basket it completed! ; )  I love doing this and challenging myself to come up with new ideas.  This year's inspiration came from Pinterest (Find me on Pinterest at Delta Scrapper).  I love using a cooler as the container because it will definitely be reused over and over again.  I used my Cricut machine to cut out the last name of the custodian in white vinyl.  I welded the letters together on my Gypsy.

I measured the front of the cooler to make sure my letters were to scale.  I love the way it came out.  So many of team members and other co-workers commented on how nice and practical this basket was.  I know the custodian loved it as well.

If you like what you see, please leave me some blog love in the comments section below.  You guys are the best!  Until next time...

Chalkboard Door With Vinyl

Hey Divas!  Yep, I'm back again this week with another project.  Don't faint! : )

I told you guys that while I was on a hiatus from my blog, I was still crafting.  This chalkboard door was one of the projects I completed during that time.  I just love it!

Materials and Cartridges
  • Sentimentals Cartridge - "Welcome" image
  • Brown Vinyl
  • Chalkboard Paint

I got this idea from Pinterest (I'm so addicted!!!)  I went to a local store that sells all kinds of old goodies that can be altered.  I didn't have a large space for this project so when I found this old narrow door, I knew it was the one.  I loved the color and the aging on it appealed to me as well.  I wiped it down really good and then left it as it was.

I got a small can of chalkboard paint and painted the inset using the edge as my defining line.  I gave it 2 coats so it would be nice and covered.  I cut "Welcome" on my Cricut using the Sentimentals cartridge.  This was an image, not a font, so it was already welded together.  I really love the formal, yet casualness of it.

I realized that I didn't have the long Cricut mat so in order to get my letters the size I wanted, I was going to have to cut them out on 2 mats.  So I did.  When I adhered the vinyl to the door, I had to lay one part on top of the other in order for the finished product to look like one piece.  I think it turned out nice!

I added an old fashioned crystal knob, a small bucket and various colored chalks to complete the project.    I will use this door to post weekly scriptures in my home and other things I am learning about life along this journey.  I love that I can make it be whatever I want to with just an eraser and some chalk.  I f you like my Chalkboard Door, leave me some blog love comments below.  Thanks for checking me out and until next time...

Coffee Lover Thank You Cards

Hey Divas!  Long time no see!  I have missed you all and it is good to be back on my blog.  During my absence from the blog, I have been crafting.  I just haven't posted my projects.  But I am back now so here is the first of many to come!

All my friends know that I love coffee!  Many of them do as well.  So having the Love You A Latte cart for my Cricut was a must!  My favorite brand is - you guessed it- Starbucks.  I made these cards with them in mind!

Here is what I used
  • Love You A Latte Cartridge - coffee cup
  • Jaded Blossom Stamps "Java Time" set - sentiments and coffee beans
  • Stampin' Up Inks
  • Fiskars paper crinkler

Jaded Blossom makes some really cute stamps for cards, treats and favors.  As a matter of fact, that is their specialty! Check them out by clicking here.  But please know that you can use their stamps for so much more.  For those of you that have a Silhouette or the new Cricut Explore machines, they also make SVG cuts to go along with some of their stamps. Isn't that awesome!  I used 2 of their sentiment stamps from the Java Time set on these cards.  Here is one up close.

I think the crinkled paper is reminiscent of the sleeves that Starbucks puts on our coffee cups.

I stamped the beans in 2 different colors of brown ink and then the green.  Looks like the different stages coffee beans go through before they make the good stuff that is in your cup. (yeah, I know too much about coffee beans! )

These will probably get a gift card added to them and given to someone sweet.  If you like my cards, be sure to leave me some blog love below in the comments.  Until next time...
