Hubby's Valentine's Day Card

My husband loves the cards I make for him on his birthday, Christmas and especially Valentine's Day.  This year's card was not a disappointment.  He couldn't stop looking at it!  He kept commenting about how much he liked it and I'm sharing it with you.

I made the card for a plain white piece of cardstock that ,when folded, measured 5 1/4" x 7 1/4".  I decided that I wanted the side panel to be 2 1/4", which left me with 5" to use for the stair steps.  I then put my math skills to work by dividing the 5 1/4" by 3 which gave me 1 3/4".  So I made a mark 2 1/4" in from the left and then 2 more marks every 1 3/4" up.  Next, I made a cut starting on the folded side going to the last mark of the 1 3/4 sections.  I then scored the 5" section every 1 3/4" to finally get the equal stair steps.  You should end up with 3 stairs.  It sounds like a lot but it really isn't.

Before I glued any of the cuts on, I stamped the card with a stamp from Unity Stamp.  It has the definitions of love, loving, enjoy and other sweet words.  I used the Real Red ink pad from Stampin' Up.
 

I knew I had about 5" to work with so I made a basic 5" heart and a more intricate, smaller heart to layer on the back stair step.  I put a pink bling circle on the red heart for that special touch.  I cut the couple at about 4 1/2" and glued them to the middle stair step.

I wanted the give the "L" in love a little zing.  So I took a strip of bling and curved it around the loopy (techincal term there) part.  I really like the effect!

The last think I did was add a couple of Prima flowers and an intricuate heart with a bling brad.  That added the final touch to a beautiful card.  Leave me some love and I'll see you next time!
